"A cornerstone North Beach Italian restaurant long run by Carmen, Agostino, and Anna Crotti, they announced via press release that they will retire at the end of the year; their transition began in spring 2023 when the family started searching for new owners, though none have been named yet. The restaurant dates back to 1935 when it opened as Lupo’s and was later renamed Tommaso’s under owner Tommy Chin, who sold it to Agostino Crotti in 1973. Legend holds it brought the first wood-fired pizza oven to the West Coast, and its menu—baked clams, veal parmigiana, calzones, and spumoni—has remained largely unchanged from its early days." - Justine Jones
