"Opening Saturday, July 21 at noon in Laurelhurst, the new taproom at 3626 NE 45th St. replaces Ciao Bella; I found the opening beer list fairly diverse — a porter, a hoppy pale, an IPA made with local ingredients, a saison, and a London brown. The ownership group (Kenneth Trease, Eric Lundquist, Corey Ovendale, and Ty Ovendale — two of whom are former homebrewers) hired Phil Pesheck as full-time brewer; his resume includes Mac and Jack’s and Georgetown Brewing. In a blog post Pesheck said to expect many experimental session IPAs, Double IPAs, strong ales, barleywines, kettle-soured and barrel-aged brews, and he’s also interested in Belgian styles, while Trease told Eater the brewery hopes to bring on several new beers per week so there’s often something new. The owners promise to source as many Washington State ingredients as possible (hops and malt), and the inaugural IPA already uses local ingredients; non-beer drinkers will find a few Washington ciders on tap plus some nonalcoholic drinks. With the popular bike trail in its backyard there’s plenty of bike parking and both indoor and outdoor seating at tables or a long bar; the kid- and dog-friendly taproom is industrial-chic, with wood planks covering the back bar wall and ceiling and gray-blue walls elsewhere. There isn’t a kitchen, so patrons are encouraged to bring in food from neighboring restaurants like Great State Burger. To help fund the business they ran a Founder’s Club ($150) offering T-shirts, pint glasses, a Founder’s Club party, and front-of-line privileges for special beer releases. Starting July 21 the hours are Monday 4–10 p.m., Wednesday and Thursday 4–11 p.m., Saturday noon–11 p.m., and Sunday noon–10 p.m." - Megan Hill
