"Opened in downtown Decatur by Kristin Radcliffe and Mary Tveit to serve beverages any time of day, the Reading Room succeeds at being both a coffee shop and a nighttime haunt: we open at 7 a.m. and stay busy all day long. Coffee offerings range from espresso shots to cold brew and cortados, while cocktails such as the Corpse Reviver and a bright green Grasshopper invite patrons to linger; lead barista Emmett Munzing, hired for his knowledge of both coffee and cocktails and his local following, made the shop’s bestseller a take on the Grasshopper that adds ice cream, absinthe, and Fernet. Evening food is made for sharing, with Bougie, Classic, feta, and veggie boards on the menu, and the Reading Room plans to welcome local musical acts to further its after-hours vibe." - Denise K.
