"After the owner’s brief stint in prison, I found the celebrated barbecue truck has returned to its original neighborhood to hawk Texas-style brisket and ribs and reopened on April 17 as Botto’s BBQ. Open for under a year before its shutdown, the cart quickly gained recognition as a major player in Portland’s barbecue scene with rave reviews and a dedicated following; it’s been praised for having some of the finest dry-rubbed rib racks in Portland. Owner Darren Bottinelli was sentenced in 2016 to 46 months after admitting he stole $3 million from former clients, though he served about two years thanks to good behavior and completing a drug addiction program.
