"After nearly a year of signage, the Wicker Park outpost of Bonchon will open Thursday at 4 p.m. at 1732 W. Division Street, co-owner David Cheng said. The new, nearly 4,000-square-foot location seats about 100 people with 20 tables and features a full bar area with four TVs behind the bar and four more scattered throughout; staff will serve 10 to 12 beers, wine, and soju, but the restaurant will be BYO to start while ownership finishes its liquor license (Cheng hopes to begin serving booze later this month). Best known for Korean fried chicken, customers can season crunchy wings, drums, strips, or boneless wings with soy or spicy glaze—the options are flavorful but the spice level is moderate—and Cheng emphasized the boneless wings are real wings with the bone removed rather than nuggets. Bonchon also offers bimbimbop, bao, tacos and broader genuine Korean dishes like beefy bulgogi, japchae, udon, and lunch specials; the Wicker Park spot will be the chain’s 65th location since it debuted 16 years ago in South Korea. Hours are listed as 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to midnight on weekends, and the phone is (773) 360-7460." - Ashok Selvam
