"Scoops of ice cream in flavors like cereal milk Oreo and honey roasted strawberry await at Flower & Cream, which is opening its doors this week. The very photogenic new ice cream shop located at 2617 W Holcombe Boulevard is currently in soft opening mode, with 11 flavors ready to go. Eventually that will expand to 16 flavors on rotation: for now, best-sellers include Baileys & Blondies made with the liquor and made-in-house blondies, along with a cotton candy-Lucky Charm cereal mashup called “Unicorn Tracks.” There’s one vegan ice cream available right now: toasted coconut. Vehicles for those decadent scoops include cones, cookie ice cream sandwiches, and macaron ice cream sandwiches. Flower & Cream bakes all its mix-ins and cookies from scratch too. Pints to go are also available. This week is leading up to Flower & Cream’s grand opening on Saturday, June 29. During those festivities, treats will be “pay what you want” with all proceeds going toward Ronald McDonald House Houston. That’s happening all day, or until the ice cream runs out. This is the beginning of a partnership the shop hopes to have with Ronald McDonald House Houston. Flower & Cream’s hours are Sunday through Thursday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 12 p.m. to 11 p.m. The shop wrote on Instagram over the weekend: “It’s been a long process but we’re finally ready to open our doors!! Soft opening starts Monday 6/24 at noon,” adding that customers will get “25% off your purchase” during soft opening." - Adele Chapin
