"Operated by José Moreno, a former chef at Eataly and Del Posto, I found that Birria-Landia began as a taco truck in Jackson Heights in the summer of 2019 and, after a rare two-star New York Times review from Pete Wells, became known for its tacos, mulitas, and tostadas and for hourlong lines along Roosevelt Avenue; Moreno traveled to Tijuana and brought back Tijuana-style birria recipes that are largely credited with putting that style on the map in New York." - Luke Fortney
