"Tucked inside the Selina Gold Dust Motel beneath the French-style Café Kush, I found Don’s 5 Star Dive Bar — a 1,000-square-foot, 'pretending to be old' lounge from the team behind LoKal, Kush, and Vicky’s House that playfully pays homage to Miami’s most loved “Dons” of the 1970s and ’80s. The underground space is decked out in nostalgia-inducing tchotchkes, with themed bathrooms (each stall plastered with a life-size Don Johnson), a recreation of the Don Shula Expressway sign, a portrait of Donna Shalala, and a Don Bailey Carpeting sign spanning the back wall above vintage banquettes and armchairs, all cast in a soft red glow from a neon “Yo Amo Miami” sign. The menu leans into dive-bar classics like the screwdriver and Tom Collins while offering Don-themed cocktails — the Sabado Gigante (Ford’s Gin, St. Germain and hibiscus), the King of Carpets (Skyy Citrus, blackberry and ginger beer), and the Don’t F*ck With Don Shula (mezcal, Campari and vermouth) — alongside local craft beers, wine and several shot combinations; guests named Don, Dawn, or Donna receive a complimentary shot served in a neoprene bong. Food is intentionally simple: a classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich with a bag of chips and miniature candy served in a vintage lunch box, or French onion dip with kettle chips, and complimentary popcorn is available to all guests. The bar is located inside the Selina Gold Dust Motel at 7700 Biscayne Boulevard and is open 7 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays, with plans to open nightly in the coming months." - Olee Fowler
