"After disgruntled Cottage Grove locals petitioned to have it shuttered, I report that Down the Street won its battle with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission when a State Office of Administrative Hearings judge ruled in the bar’s favor and its liquor license will be renewed; the judge found no violations of TABC rules and determined those who opposed the bar could not prove their stories. Owner Cheryl Crider said she was "thrilled beyond belief" because the outcome means they can continue their 5-year track record of providing Cottage Grove with the neighborhood amenity it deserves and wants, and she credited loyal customers, neighbors and their extended family for standing up to what she called unfounded and baseless accusations from a handful of disgruntled protestors. Fans can celebrate with a beer when it opens today at noon." - Amy McCarthy
