Iconic Houston Bakery El Bolillo Opens New Outpost in Mission Bend | Eater Houston
"Celebrating 25 years, this longstanding Latin bakery opened its fourth and largest outpost in Mission Bend, occupying 12,000 square feet at 6766 S Texas 6. The new location keeps the tradition of freshly baking roughly 100 variations of Latin pastries daily — from classic pan dulce to decadent tres leches and custom-made cakes — while adding features unique to this site: an outdoor patio serving cafe de olla (a first for the brand), and a menu expansion that includes Asian-style pastries as a nod to the neighborhood’s sizable Asian community. Owner Joel Garza aimed to fill a gap for Latin baked goods on the Westside and to reflect local culture; the interior and exterior showcase hand-painted murals, bright colors, bird light fixtures inspired by Mexico’s muralist movement, and a bell tower referencing traditional Spanish architecture.
