Chef Troy Guard’s Guard and Grace Opens in Houston This Month - Eater Houston
"Denver chef Troy Guard is set to debut Guard and Grace, his swanky new steakhouse, at One Allen Center in Downtown Houston later this month. The restaurant is set to arrive in the tower at 500 Dallas Street on November 19, marking Guard’s first foray outside of his home base of Colorado. Guard’s been a prominent fixture of the Denver dining scene over the past several year, operating eight distinct restaurant concepts including the much-lauded, Asian-influenced TAG, and the original outpost of Guard and Grace. The restaurant occupies a 15,000 square foot space at One Allen Center, designed by Boss Architecture. The space is surrounded by glass walls that let in plenty of light, while reclaimed exposed concrete walls offer a look back at the building’s history. One of Guard and Grace’s most distinct design features is the installation of 4,600 bronze rods hanging from the ceiling intended to give the space a “sleek, contemporary look.” In Houston, Guard and Grace will serve a bounty of quality beef options, including local wagyu, USDA Prime, and Angus, prepared on the restaurant’s wood-burning grills, along with seafood options like Alaskan black cod in sweet soy butter. For those who are truly looking to ball out, the restaurant will boast a completely absurd platter of “Millionaire Fajitas” that includes wagyu beef, caviar, and gold-sprinkled tortillas that’s priced at a hefty $400. When it opens, Guard and Grace will serve dinner Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Lunch is set to follow on December 2, and the restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays." - Amy McCarthy
