"The towering American beer hall and restaurant on 18th Street NW that opened in 2014 under now-celebrity chef Marjorie Meek-Bradley will soon close, with general manager Dave Delaplaine saying the last day of business is Sunday, November 19. Over its run it became one of the faces of Adams Morgan, hosting year-round live music and DJs on weekends, frequent trivia nights, happy hour with $3-off drafts and $5 French onion dip, and large private events in its 300-person space with grand windows and a prime people-watching rooftop. The menu of American comfort foods — now led by executive chef Mario Escamilla — featured favorites like mac and cheese, Sriracha-glazed wings, burrata and squash, brisket-and-sirloin burgers, grilled flat-iron steak, and pan-seared branzino. It was also deeply involved in the local beer scene (its bottled-beer list swelled to about 100), hosted industry events like an Ugly Sweater party to benefit Mary’s Center, and plans closing specials on its cellar of “big, giant beers,” including Avery Brewing’s nutty stouts and barreled gose from Union Craft." - Tierney Plumb
