"Located at 114 East State Street in Black Mountain, North Carolina, this all-day restaurant occupies a restored 1940s Pure Oil gas station that sat derelict for decades until the owners spent three years transforming it into a warm, European-meets-mountain-chic dining room—think candelabras, richly stained wood floors, sheepskin throws and a leather couch. Opened in October 2022 by a local couple with chef Jake Whitman, the kitchen follows a New American, seasonally driven concept that changes frequently to showcase what’s fresh and sometimes layers in Japanese ingredients for interest.
