"Kiez Küche & Beer Garden recently opened in Highland Park and fans of Bavarian delights showed up in full force to support the business on a recent Friday night. Families and their strollers packed the front patio facing York Boulevard, while folks on date nights settled in the dining room. The chilly autumn evening called for a glass of gluhwein to start, the hot spiced mulled wine garnished with a slice of fresh orange was just the thing to warm us up before digging into crisp potato pancakes and a soft pretzel. The highlight of the evening was the hearty bowl of beef goulash served over homemade spätzle. The homey stew, chock-full of tender beef and carrots, stuck to our bones in the best way.
