A laid-back cafe in LA where you can relish classic and creative bagels, sandwiches, and fresh juices, all served by friendly faces.
"Maury’s was famous long before they even truly opened. Their weekly pop-ups at Eastside coffee shops were the stuff of legend, selling out most mornings as hordes of people lined up to score a bagel. With their 2019 brick-and-mortar debut, Maury’s was able to cut down on the lines, but the quality remains. These bagels are on the small side, but they are dense, chewy, and absolutely fantastic. The thin-skinned crust still has a bit of texture, and Maury’s makes them at such a clip that yours will always be warm inside. If you’re going for a sandwich, any of the smoked fish options are great, especially the fatty, smoky sablefish." - sylvio martins, arden shore, garrett snyder, cathy park

"Maury’s is one of our favorite bagel shops in the city. You’ll find them in a red brick building in one of Silver Lake’s more residential areas serving bagels that are the perfect mix of dense and chewy. They’re great on their own (we particularly like the salt bagel, which comes studded with rock-hard crystals), but their cured fish options shouldn’t be missed either. The sliced black cod is rich and buttery, there are multiple types of smoked salmon, and for $22, you can get a bagel piled high with lox and wasabi tobiko - a sinus-clearing breakfast that’s as effective as any neti pot." - kat hong
"Heading to Maury's Bagels during weekdays is recommended as weekend waits can be lengthy. Pre-order an assorted bag and try the #8 bagel with cream cheese, tomato, dill, cucumber, red onion, and capers, or the open-faced Mori with pickled cucumber, smoked salmon, and wasabi-infused cream cheese with flying fish roe. The lemon zest enhances this sandwich. Jason Kaplan's bagels are pillowy with a respectable bite, best enjoyed without comparisons to East Coast styles." - Eater Staff
"We’re as tired as you of this whole “NYC vs. The Rest of the World” debate when it comes to bagel-making, so we’ll skip straight to the point: Maury’s bakes a damn good bagel. Operating out of a red-brick building in a more residential part of Silver Lake, this takeout-only spot serves bagels that are pliable and chewy, plus a whole bunch of cured fish options for every breakfast aficionado in your friend group. If you're looking for something beyond the well-done classics, get a bagel with buttery black cod or a $22 version piled high with lox and wasabi tobiko cream cheese." - brant cox, nikko duren, sylvio martins
