"When Jollibee opened its first Dallas–Fort Worth location in Plano on August 20, the restaurant was immediately inundated with fried-chicken enthusiasts: fans drove from across DFW to wait in drive-thru lines—some arriving as early as 4 a.m. before the 8 a.m. opening—while others sat in a punishing drive-thru for more than four hours as lines wrapped around the building and spilled onto the nearby highway. People were waiting to get their hands on sweet spaghetti, “Chickenjoy,” and mango-peach pies; one Instagram user wrote that they waited almost four hours and that the meal represented their childhood, making the wait worth it. Because of COVID-19 the dining room is closed and service is drive-thru only, and the restaurant has posted purchase limits—no more than 20 pieces of “Chickenjoy” and a maximum of 10 peach-mango pies per patron—to try to manage the crowds." - Amy McCarthy
