"I learned that Café Intermezzo opened over the weekend at 205 Demonbreun Street on the ground floor of the SoBro Tower downtown; the Atlanta-based, nineteenth-century Vienna–influenced coffeehouse serves coffee plus more than 45 desserts and pastries, has a full food menu including all-day breakfast, and operates as a full-service spot with a full bar. Their beverage menus are lengthy, complete with a table of contents and a full-page lesson on the history of coffee, and specialties range from double espressos pulled on a grand espresso machine named Athena to Turkish coffee and a seasonally festive gingerbread cappuccino. The two-page food menu lists a duo of soups, hors d’oeuvres like baked brie and mussels, sandwiches, salads, charcuterie and cheese selections, mains such as pastas, seared salmon, chicken and trout, and breakfast offerings including omelets, French toast, grain bowls, Benedicts and a croque-madame. Desserts vary daily and are displayed in a pastry case where a ‘pastry tour guide’ describes each offering. The European-inspired coffeehouse now has six locations across Georgia, Texas and Tennessee, though hours and the menu for the Tennessee location have not yet been posted on Café Intermezzo’s website." - Delia Jo Ramsey
