"The Pearl location will open on May 12 at 1131 NW Couch Street, bringing fried chicken, biscuits and gravy, seafood jambalaya and other Southern classics; the Pearl menu will include a potlikker oyster broil, praline-glazed riblets, chicken-fried steaks and the ability to serve chicken and waffles all day, with brunch additions like a French-onion-and-bacon egg tart and French omelets. Some longtime standards such as praline bacon and brisket won’t be on the menu day one but are expected to return as staff settle in. The bar leans on New Orleans cocktail culture with vieux carrés and sazeracs, brunch offerings include blood orange mimosas and bloody marys, and there will be a house-made cream soda on tap with seasonal flavors (strawberries in summer, mandarin in winter); the Pearl restaurant will offer indoor and outdoor dining as well as takeout. Owners Nicole and David Mouton say expansion plans were delayed but are back on track, with an airport location now slated for 2022." - Brooke Jackson-Glidden
