"A morning-focused cafe from Humberto Leon (founder of Opening Ceremony, creator of Peruvian Chinese restaurant Chifa, and current creative director of girl group Katseye) that blends Asian and Latin flavors and ingredients. The signature bolo bao sandwich is served on a crackly sugar-topped pineapple bun; order the bolo breakfast with a fluffy folded egg, American cheese, and the option to add bacon, Spam, or a Salvadoran chorizo patty. For sweets, try the French toast made with Japanese milk bread or the youtiao (Chinese doughnut) Chinchurro tossed in cinnamon and sugar. Coffee is from Cipota Coffee, an LA-based brand founded by Gardenia Rosales that sources beans from El Salvador and roasts locally. On hot days the jocote tonic (espresso, tonic water, and jocote jam) is recommended. There are a few counter seats inside, but the best seating is on the semi-hidden patio outside." - Mona Holmes
