"At 35 Prospect St. in Union Square, Somerville organizers led by F. DeSousa and roughly 30 volunteers are preparing a community fridge with a policy of “Take what you need, leave what you don’t, give what you can.” The fridge will accept nonperishables, canned goods, clean produce, pantry staples like rice and pasta, peanut butter, and sanitary products (pads, tampons), as well as hygiene items such as hand sanitizer, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and masks. Organizers emphasize the fridge’s importance for undocumented and other marginalized residents who were shut out of stimulus relief, framing mutual aid as essential where government support has fallen short." - Terrence Doyle
