"Set to open in April at 1209 Rosewood Avenue, this new neighborhood restaurant will focus on South Texas cuisine led by chefs Jesse DeLeon and Chas Spence (who is his brother-in-law). The pair—who previously ran the 2016 pop-up Victoria Provisions that highlighted Southern Texas coastal fare—will emphasize whole-animal cooking with in-house butchering and sourcing from the Hill Country and the Gulf Coast. The beverage program will pay tribute to the space’s predecessor, East End Wines, by featuring bottles from family-owned, sustainably minded wineries alongside cocktails and Texas beers. Housed in a converted historic Victorian redesigned by Mark Odom Studio with outdoor deck and lawn work by Word Design, the layout includes a main dining room, private dining room, and a chef’s counter. The front-of-house team lists general manager Jeb Russell, pastry chef Aria Alba (formerly of Mattie’s at Green Pastures, Odd Duck, and McGuire Moorman Hospitality), and beverage director Benjamin Levario (formerly of Parkside Projects and Swift’s Attic). The restaurant will open serving dinner only and plans to add brunch and lunch in May." - Nadia Chaudhury
