"A DFW-based chain founded in 2002 and considered a major player in the local boba scene, Fat Straws is known for chewy, colorful Taiwanese-style milk teas spiked with perfectly chewy tapioca pearls, jellies, and other accoutrements. The Richardson outpost at 1251 West Campbell Road, Suite 230 quietly opened for limited hours and will officially debut on June 1; it is soft open daily from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. until then and will move to regular hours (Monday–Saturday 10 a.m.–10 p.m., Sunday 10 a.m.–9 p.m.). In addition to its bubble teas, the new location introduces mochi doughnuts made with glutinous rice flour for a chewier texture than a typical doughnut, hand-dipped in toppings like ceremonial-grade matcha and strawberry icing — a change owner Terry Pham says came after he tried his first mochi doughnut last year and felt he had to share it." - Amy McCarthy
