"A family-run vegan spot on Main Street in Columbia that moved to permanent takeout-only, contactless service during the pandemic to improve efficiency and manage limited parking. Owner Folami Geter, who was raised vegetarian and purchased the business from her father in 2014, added vegan breakfast service Wednesday through Saturday to extend open hours and free up time to book her popular food truck. Breakfast highlights include gluten-free French toast sticks, a breakfast platter with pancakes or waffles and a choice of plant-based “sausage” or “eggs,” organic grits, and strong coffee; the lunch menu features a beloved “chicken biscuit” — deep-fried seitan on a pretzel bun. The menu leans on meatless takes of familiar proteins and house-baked biscuits and cakes made by family members, with relatives helping front and back of house. Located at the intersection of the Cottontown, Elmwood Park, and Earlewood neighborhoods, the restaurant has become an anchor in the area’s revitalization; breakfast traffic is about 30% regulars and largely consists of neighborhood workers and people coming off third shift." - Stephanie Burt
