"A multifaceted, four-story pan-Asian cultural hub for dining and drinking is debuting in Midtown on Friday, November 21, at 56 East 41st Street, between Madison and Park avenues, from the team behind Taiwanese restaurant Gulp and returning cocktail bar 929. The first two floors open first: street level will host a new third location of Gulp and a new bistro, Traveler, which takes cues from Asian pop culture and dispenses vending machine cocktails; the second floor brings back 929 with its retro vibes and a Mandarin and Cantonese pop soundtrack. Chef Michael Hsu, who has worked at places like Sydney restaurant Quay, is overseeing all food, while beverage director Chaoyi Chen—who oversees the team’s Long Island City bar 56709 and co-founded Taipei’s Pawn Bar—leads drinks. Coming later is the third-floor cafe and retail shop Apt.Hue, pouring osmanthus oolong lattes and gardenia yunnan pour-overs." - Nadia Chaudhury
