Wawa Plans to Give Out 2 Million Free Coffees on Thursday | Eater Philly

"To mark Wawa's 55th anniversary on Thursday, April 11, I'm focusing on the giant new Independence Mall location (150 S. Independence Mall West, at 6th and Chestnut streets), which is hosting the Philly Wawa Day celebration where Wawa will give away free coffee all day in any size — part of a chainwide giveaway the company expects to total more than 2 million cups. At this event Wawa’s president and CEO Chris Gheysens will pour the first cup and Mayor Jim Kenney will give a speech about Wawa’s impact in Philly, while chef Farley Kaiser will compete with Mike Solomonov to see who can make the most Broad Street Meatball Hoagies as a charitable sandwich collaboration. The day also marks the fifth anniversary of the Wawa Foundation, which in Pennsylvania is contributing $1 million (part of $3 million total) to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, Special Olympics, and Check Out Hunger." - Rachel Vigoda
