Bakery Chain SusieCakes Is Opening a New Bakery in Austin’s Clarksville | Eater Austin
"A West Coast–born bakery chain is opening its second Austin location in the Clarksville neighborhood on Friday, September 6. It’s best known for vibrant, decadent layer cakes — including the Celebration (vanilla-sugar confetti cake with light blue vanilla frosting), the Luscious Lemon (vanilla cake with lemon curd and vanilla buttercream exterior), and the Southern Red Velvet — along with cookies, sandwich cookies, key lime pies, and catering services. The Clarksville shop will offer special Hook ’Em–decorated cupcakes for University of Texas football games and will celebrate its first day by giving away free cupcakes from 3–6 p.m., plus free Longhorn cupcakes to guests wearing burnt orange; there will also be a raffle to win a year of free cakes and the owner/founder, Susan Sarich, will be on site. Sarich started the bakery in 2006 in Los Angeles, later expanded to California and the Dallas–Fort Worth area, and relocated her family and headquarters to Texas; the brand’s first Austin outpost opened in October 2022 near Rollingwood on Bee Cave Road.
