"On any given sunny afternoon I might see a couple of young professionals enjoying a cup of noodles at a tidy sidewalk table outside this 9-month-old concept store founded by Joyce Chung and Terence Brasch. Goodies combines grab-and-go snacks and beverages, Asian pantry staples, ample seating for people to spend time in the neighborhood, and flexible space for artists and entrepreneurs to host events. After learning the history of the 139-year-old building it occupies, the owners set out to revive the corner market legacy and to help shift perceptions of Old Town–Chinatown by hosting community plant swaps, kimchi-making workshops, block parties, street food pop-ups, and collaborations with nearby businesses. Chung and Brasch emphasize everyday neighborliness — greeting people by name, sitting outside, and partnering with their next-door neighbor to make the intersection feel safer and more welcoming — and say they are already seeing the positive impacts on foot traffic and neighborhood energy." - Eater
