"Set to open in early March at 809 12th Street NE, this late-night Mexican street-food stand will revive the pint-sized box that housed Horace and Dickie’s for three decades. Chef Rolando Frias — who opened the original Taqueria Al Lado in Adams Morgan a year earlier — plans a focused, one-page menu letting patrons choose a taco, quesadilla, huarache, or salad ($4, $8, $8, and $12) and a protein such as al pastor, lengua, chicken tinga, vegan barbacoa, or tempura-battered cod. The new outpost will be smaller than the first, with eight seats inside plus a 12-seat patio, and carryout and delivery will be a big part of the business; according to a recent ABRA filing, service would start at 11 a.m. daily with tequila flowing as late as 2 a.m. on weekdays and 3 a.m. on weekends." - Tierney Plumb
