"After 11 years serving up fantastic seasonal fare with global influences, I’m watching Poppy prepare to close on August 4 as James Beard–award winning chef Jerry Traunfeld steps back and moves to Palm Springs with his husband, Stephen. I’ve loved its array of thalis and herbs sourced from an onsite garden and the way Northwest ingredients were woven into Indian cuisine—highlights included Tandoori chicken with cilantro slaw, paneer with maitake mushrooms, marvelous soups, spices, vegetables, and naan. Late-night happy hour staples like the “naanwiches” and clever cocktails left a lasting impression, and the modern Danish-style decor helped create one of Seattle’s most iconic dining rooms.
