Tomatoes Apizza Opens New Haven-Style Pizzeria in Birmingham | Eater Detroit

"A new 1,400-square-foot outpost brings Farmington Hills favorite Tomatoes Apizza to Birmingham at 34200 Woodward Ave., next door to Papa Joe’s Gourmet Market and Catering. Designed by Ron Rea, the spot offers carryout and delivery and serves New Haven-style pizza — a thin-crust pizza that’s baked in a coal-fired oven. Diners can expect options like a green pizza topped with mozzarella, garlic, and a generous spread of spinach; a white pizza with mozzarella, garlic, basil, and fresh tomato; and a Naples Sampler that divides the pie into four of the restaurant’s most popular combinations. The menu also includes garlic bread, salad, and a dessert bread filled with chocolate hazelnut spread. This third location joins Tomatoes’ full-service restaurants on 14 Mile and Halsted Road in Farmington, and is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday–Thursday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday–Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. Sunday." - Brenna Houck
