"Set to open at 13520 Aurora Ave by the end of January as construction is finalized, the New York mini-chain Friendship BBQ — which launched in Flushing three years ago to long lines and later expanded to Chinatown — has become a destination for Chinese expats. The Seattle location will reproduce the mini-chain’s robust menu, featuring various meat and vegetable skewers (chuan'er 串儿), grilled fish, hot pot, and a seafood boil with crawfish, crab, and shrimp; signature items include the Xinjiang Red Willow lamb skewer, barbecued scallops and oysters, cold noodles, and grilled pork bones. Owner Tommy Tanzil, a Seattle-area native who struck a franchising deal after visiting the Queens spot, says the sauces and technique come directly from training with the chefs in Flushing to ensure the same quality." - Gabe Guarente
