"I learned that Communal Coffee’s all-patio location in South Park will expand its footprint by the beginning of September. Last March the cafe, which got its start in North Park, transformed a vacant 2,000-square-foot lot on Fern Street into an outdoor coffee oasis centered on a coffee bar housed in a converted vintage travel trailer. Open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., it features Sightglass Coffee (an independent company based in San Francisco) and a full range of drinks including its signature flower lattes, along with light bites such as baked goods from Bird Rock’s Wayfarer Bread & Pastry, bagel sandwiches, avocado toast, and chia pudding. After neighboring store JUNC closed following 16 years in South Park, owner Jennifer Byard plans to take over that space to add indoor seating and a retail shop for branded merchandise, coffee supplies, and housewares, and she also intends to add a kitchen and expand the food offerings." - Candice Woo
