"Set to open next month on a well-known corner in Hollywood, La Villita Cantina occupies the former Victor’s Square deli and has been completely overhauled to resemble a rustic Mexican town square, with stone walls, exposed wood beams, colorful tile, and cement pavers underfoot. After about two-and-a-half years of planning by serial restaurateur Greg Morris—who partners with Jeremy Fraye and previously ran The Spanish Kitchen—the plan is for a casual neighborhood restaurant serving evening big-plate Mexican fare, weekend brunch, and margaritas. The nearly complete space offers high ceilings, low light, a television for keeping an eye on the game, a lounge-y area for chatting with friends, and big brown booths to sink into for family meals; the hope is for an early-May soft opening for a quiet night of drinks with neighbors, followed by a full reveal later next month." - Farley Elliott
