George's Restaurant & Bar

Gloucester

"George’s has been a mainstay in Virginia-Highland since 1961. Metal signs on the booths relay the names of famous folks who have visited this divey sports bar (from President Jimmy Carter and Mickey Mantle to Idris Elba and Janelle Monae), which give a hint into this place’s longevity and importance. George's history and fanfare, along with a decent burger, are why you should consider a stop here, too. No visit would be complete without one of their “famous” burgers—get the lemon pepper or spicy jalapeño dijon. Plus we like sliding into the cozy, well-worn wooden booths with individual Lowenbrau-branded lanterns and staring at the TVs that are always tuned into some sporting event. photo credit: Sarah Newman photo credit: Sarah Newman photo credit: Sarah Newman" - Juli Horsford
