"Autry Park is heating up, with recent openings like Doko and Annam now joined by Mayahuel, a dramatic two-story restaurant named for the Mexica goddess of the maguey plant. Inside, it’s all stone, wood, and soaring ceilings, like an ancient temple reborn in Houston in 2025. The chef has worked at Le Cirque, École Lenôtre, and Tout Chocolat, and he brings a fine-dining eye to dishes like roasted maitake-stuffed tortillas with mushroom crémeux, sea bass Veracruz with boulangère potatoes, and fried oysters in serrano beurre blanc and caviar. Brunch is on, too: think a salsa roja spin on shakshuka and a “Chocolate Caliente” made with 100% Mexican craft chocolate. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Brooke Viggiano
