"Two words: ceviche nachos. That’s what you’re having at this fish market and restaurant in Santurce. During the week, workers in suits stop by for a quick lunch, and out-of-towners often make it their first or last stop from the airport, since it’s so close by. The restaurant is mere steps away from the marina, where local fishermen dock their boats and deliver the fish used to make the cod tacos here that are fried to crunchy perfection. Its proximity to the harbor and fresh seafood dishes demand that you order a fresh passionfruit juice to go with it. Or a couple of Medallas to cool off. Food Rundown Fish Broth Before the start of every meal, you’re given a little cup of fish broth. It’s salty, punchy, and most importantly, free. Nachos De Ceviche We’ve said it once, and we’ll say it 80 more times: this dish is to nachos what Hector Lavoe is to Latin music—a Puerto Rican icon with groundbreaking flavor. The fish is marinated in ginger, orange juice, and minced apples for an explosive sweet and sour taste. You can find ceviche nachos in other restaurants, but none top these. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino Bacalao Fish Tacos The beer-battered fish is so crispy that they almost beg for an ASMR-worthy knife scrape. They’re topped with cabbage and mayoketchup, and, frankly, don’t really need anything else. photo credit: Mariana Trabanino" - Mariana Trabanino
