"Jjan is a windowless bar with dark, grungy corners and crammed booths lit up by string lights. It's also a lot more fun as a place to drink than the previous sentence might suggest. K-pop tunes blast at full volume, and there’s usually sports playing on the TV—but the real entertainment is the people next to you belting out “Happy Birthday” like they’re at a concert. Bowls of complimentary pretzels are on each table, but it’s better to soak up the frozen beer slushies with rosé tteokbokki and stir-fried kimchi pork belly, because the bar food here is quite good. Overseeing all the action is a giant Jinro-branded frog suspended from the ceiling like a guardian angel." - Cathy Park
