"Brunch at Stepney’s will make you feel like Snow White singing to a fluffy collection of forest creatures. The cafe, part of Stepney City Farm, draws nature-starved Londoners with the promise of doorstop focaccia BLTs and french toast. The food is delicious, so is the look of pure relaxation on parents’ faces as they sip coffee while their children meet Mars, the resident boar. Most of the seats are outside, but the covered area towards the back and wooden treehouse-adjacent gazebo make it an ideal spot even on a drizzly day. But the bread is light and airy, there’s a sensible smear of mayo, and fresh, crisp lettuce. The french toast toppings change often, and we've had it with rhubarb and also a blueberry compote. It’s heavy on egg, but we like that. You can get bacon as an add-on and we’d really recommend it. We like to think the staff at Stepney’s considered rebranding the humble sausage roll because theirs is so mighty. It’s packed full of flavoursome, soft lamb.
