The Leyton Engineer - Review - Leyton - London - The Infatuation

"We’re not entirely sure what’s meant to go on in town halls, but we do know that drinking a crisp pint is better than conducting passive aggressive meetings about the fate of a new spate of loft conversions. On that note, The Leyton Engineer—housed in E10’s former town hall—has undergone the kind of subtle face-lift that preserves all those antique smile lines while also giving it a young, fresh air of IPA cool. It’s a sprawling pub where you’ll inevitably wander through the grand old atrium, past the old-school juke box, and into the jungle-chic Palm Room, before settling in one of the private little nooks so that a casual beaujolais date night can get the clandestine tealight treatment. Don’t expect too much from the classic British pub grub as this is a drinks-first, maybe-dine-later boozer, but we have it on good authority that the sausage and mash soaks up a third pint like a pro. video credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley Food Rundown Classic Scotch Egg With Brown Sauce It’s a shame that no one has properly wrapped these sunny yolks up in their meat blanket, but the sausage meat itself has a lovely herby flavour. A simple, no-fuss stomach-liner. photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley Trio Of Cumberland Sausages With Mash, Broccoli, And Gravy Like a row of snoozing dachshund puppies, these micro sausages are adorable and the glaze on these Cumberlands is of a similar sweet disposition. Aim for a perfect fork ratio of two parts buttery, gravy-sponge mash, one part sausage, and we give you permission to ignore the rather wet broccoli. photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley Cheeseburger Seeing as our Sunday school teacher always told us to never say anything if we didn’t have anything nice to say, we’re going to stay schtum on this overcooked burger. The chips are decent, especially if you seek out the little crispy ones. photo credit: Heidi Lauth Beasley" - Heidi Lauth Beasley
