Landmarc - Review - Tribeca - New York - The Infatuation

"There was a time back in the day (2003) when we thought Landmarc was about as good as dinner out could get. I can’t even remember why to be honest with you, I think it mostly comes from the fact that when we did go, it was before a show and we were with our music executive bosses and their corporate cards. Fast forward seven or so years and our views on the place have changed quite a bit. Maybe the food has gone downhill, maybe our standards are higher, or maybe a few disastrous experiences at the Time Warner Center location have just soured us on the place, but Landmarc doesn’t feel as special any more. As a matter of fact, it feels very mediocre and very overpriced. Yes, there are decent eats to be had - breakfast is generally good, the mussels above average, and the steaks are tasty - but you’ll spend more than you should, especially with so many better options in the area. At the end of the day, Landmarc just isn’t worth the money. Go spend your hard earned cash somewhere with food everywhere as if the party was catered. Sorry. Couldn’t resist. Food Rundown Mussels One of Landmarc’s strong points. The classic is a good way to go, but we also love the chorizo & onion. Comes with thick, dense bread for sopping. Boudin Noir This is awful. A loosely packed sausage that essentially pours out of it’s casing and tastes like meat soup. What’s worse is that this is filed under “Landmarc Specials” on the menu, and the waitress highly recommended it. Fried Calamari Tough and generally unimpressive. Smoked Mozzarella & Ricotta Fritters A light and airy fried ball of cheese. Go for these over the calamari or any of the other appetizers for that matter. Landmarc Hamburger A pretty decent burger, it’s big and juicy and comes served with thick cut fries and a huge pile of greens. Definitely a safe bet. If you’re adding cheese, we recommend the smoked mozzarella. Skirt Steak This is a nice skirt steak, but $32? I don’t think so. There isn’t a steak at Les Halles that costs more than $30, and for just about the same amount of money you get a fourteen ounce ribeye at Dylan Prime. Skirt Steak Salad Good, but still $25.
