News Cafe - Review - South Beach - Miami - The Infatuation
"Gianni Versace was a regular at News Cafe on Ocean Drive—a fun fact that this classic (under new ownership) is milking hard. The entrance has a memorial plaque that states this was the last place Gianni visited before he was murdered. If that feels like a tasteful gesture, it won’t once you see “Gianni burger” on the menu and a giant neon sign that reads, “Gianni was here.” We didn’t order the burger, but they do make a decent, albeit skimpy, fried chicken sandwich covered in sweet barbecue sauce. The cafe con leche french toast isn’t as great as it sounds. It’s just french toast sticks that taste more like churros sitting in a coffee-infused chocolate drizzle.
