Steak house · Mission Bay

"Miller & Lux is a steakhouse for anyone who likes a show. Located in “Thrive City” at the bottom of Chase Center, it's the place to go if you’re hoping to run into a Warriors player or if you want to dress up and celebrate something—as long as you care about the spectacle of roving carts full of champagne, gigantic cuts of meat, and made-for-TV desserts more than the taste of the food itself. photo credit: Miller & Lux photo credit: Miller & Lux photo credit: Miller & Lux photo credit: Miller & Lux From the moment you step inside, you’re treated to a fancy interior that could spark another French Revolution. You’ll walk up a marble staircase that leads to the main dining room full of wooden columns, leather booths, the occasional influencer, and bay “views” blocked by construction cranes. Plan out a few hours for dinner because a meal here is painfully slow, but if this is what your sister-in-law really wants for their birthday, it can do the job. At least the steaks are good (they're the one thing worth ordering)—but skip everything else. photo credit: Miller & Lux photo credit: Miller & Lux Food Rundown photo credit: Miller & Lux Champagne Cart Yes, they have a champagne cart. Depending on who you are, it’ll either be the best thing ever or one of the most obnoxious things you could imagine. Before you know it, waiters will be peddling champagne samples from the cart and not-so-subtly nudging you to get a whole bottle. photo credit: Miller & Lux Steak If the champagne cart doesn’t do it for you, hopefully, the cart of raw steak will. It’s no beefcase, but it’s still quite extravagant. The steak is well-marbled, well-seasoned, and well-cooked. It's the one thing we'll get without any hesitations. Sides The sides, like the potato purée, don't inspire many feelings, positive or negative. But some of the seasonal offerings, like the corn soup, show a few more signs of life. Get some of those, but feel free to skip the rest. photo credit: Miller & Lux M&L Burger Someone you love might try to convince you to get this burger. Don’t. It’s overly fatty, and there’s just too much going on. Between the bacon jam, onion rings, and the watercress, the burger is a bit of a tryhard that ends up confusing and boring. It comes with a side of truffle fries, what a shocker. photo credit: Miller & Lux Desserts As you might have guessed, they also bring out dessert on a cart. All of the desserts look pretty enough to be in an ad, but just like every non-steak dish on the menu, is all style over substance." - Ricky Rodriguez
