"Nakama is a Japanese restaurant that's fit for a casual meal near the Convention Center (especially if the lines at RTM are too long). The sushi is solid, if unremarkable, but 20 rolls on the menu are under $13. There are classic dishes like ramen and pork belly buns, but it’s the sushi—in handroll and maki form—that's the way to go here. You can elevate things with a large chirashi bowl (though the rice is a little heavy on the soy) or their 17-course, $125 omakase (which we haven’t yet tried). For now, the move is to stop by for happy hour, when rolls, gyoza, and karaage wings are just $6-$7. photo credit: CANDIS R. MCLEAN photo credit: CANDIS R. MCLEAN video credit: CANDIS R.
