Damballa - Review - Bushwick - New York - The Infatuation

"Think of Damballa as the older and just slightly more sophisticated sibling to Bushwick’s Cafe Erzulie. From the same team, and located directly across the street, Damballa is somewhere between a bar and a club, and it’s a great place to pair a rhum-based Summer Sorel cocktail with a plate of yuca fries dipped in cilantro-dill sauce, before dancing to a DJ late into the night. photo credit: Willa Moore photo credit: Willa Moore photo credit: Willa Moore Pause Unmute If you’re not looking for a big night out, you could also come here for a date: it’s a beautiful space with a wavy brown-and-white floor, floor-to-ceiling shelves filled with records, and impeccably dressed people perched on velvet maroon banquettes that might make you briefly question your own outfit choices. You could make it a double-header and pop over to Cafe Erzulie after a few Spicy PB&J cocktails here, but you don’t need to. Damballa is worth a long hang, and sets often go until 4am. Keep an eye on their Instagram for upcoming events." - Willa Moore
