Moonlight - Review - Old Fourth Ward - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"If you’re only looking for a drink and a photo op to end your night, then consider this rooftop bar the cherry on top of a stellar roster of restaurants at the Forth Hotel (including an Italian steakhouse and a poolside Mediterranean spot). And we’d recommend hitting one of those for a meal because the bites at Moonlight leave a lot to be desired. The lobster rolls are dry, and the ceviche is basically thawed shrimp thrown in a bowl. But the food isn’t the point. It’s all about sip and see. Throw back a tart High Fidelity and snag a cushioned seat on the outdoor balcony where you can take in the always-busy scenes of O4W and the Beltline. If the breeze threatens to ruin your hair, the indoor section of the bar still has skyline views and a ’70s feel. Plus, the bar backdrop glitters like diamonds even if you’re completely sober. Food Rundown High Fidelity Your server will likely recommend this, and you should listen. If you’re always down for double dipping on liquors, this one fuels your ambitions with both tequila and vodka and a splash of pineapple and lime. It’s a very summery cocktail that feels like the right choice to sip on a rooftop. French 16 The liquid is such a bright yellow that it’s almost blinding. But the lemony, bubbly concoction is a nice touch when you need something extra refreshing—which you most likely will if you hit this rooftop when temperatures are climbing. Lobster Roll Skip this. The lobster is served in a mayo-y sauce on a small, dry little roll. You get two, which is two too many. Steak Tartare Roll Another miss. The tartare has a weird vinegary taste, and the rolls are once again dry. Gulf Shrimp Ceviche Halved shrimp are mixed with jalapeños, green olives, and cilantro. It’s not spicy or citrusy, just a bowl of bland bits that’s served with a few mini tortilla chips. Wagyu Flatbread If you absolutely need to eat something while sipping a cocktail, this is your best bet. The wagyu is so thin it seems more like prosciutto, but the caramelized onions are a nice touch and the pizza-like crust holds up. photo credit: Amy Sinclair photo credit: Amy Sinclair photo credit: Amy Sinclair photo credit: Amy Sinclair Pause Unmute" - Juli Horsford
