Ton Ton Ramen & Yakitori - Review - Old Fourth Ward - Atlanta - The Infatuation

"A long-time fixture in Ponce City Market (since 2016), Ton Ton Ramen & Yakitori is arguably Ponce City Market's most eye-catching stop in the giant food hall, especially if you love ramen. So ignore the inner dining room that's easily mistaken for a generic waiting room (if you removed the tables), and claim a seat at the always active ramen bar near the entrance. Here you'll get a front-row seat to the noisy kitchen. Big pots of ramen broth sit on burners and billow steam into the air, sending the rows of red noren curtains into a synchronized wave-like dance. Trays of noodles sit at the ready, waiting to be dropped into broth. It’s extra satisfying (and kind of fun) to see your bowl of ramen assembled in front of you. But they’ve stuck around so long, not because of the show‚ but because their hot broth and noodle bowls are reliably good and ideal for a quick meal in the chaos of PCM. Their menu is Spudd Webb-sized with just four ramen options and a few appetizers like standard gyoza stuffed with ground pork. It's not the best ramen in the city, but it gets the job done on those days when you need something warm and filling. Food Rundown Invincible Dan Dan Mazemen Ramen The only brothless choice of the four ramen options, this bowl is one of our go-to choices. The minced pork gets a punch of flavor from the spicy sichuan oil and the noodles are the perfect semi-firm consistency. Occasionally this bowl can be a little too oily, but when done right, it's a winner. Hakata Tonkotsu Classic Ramen Their take on this classic ramen is a solid order with a creamy pork broth and tender slices of pork belly. Vegetarian Ramen The vegetable broth has tons of flavor and the medley of stir-fried carrots and cabbage on top is a hefty portion, so it makes the bowl pretty filling. Gyoza Ground pork fills these dumplings. They’re a just-fine appetizer if you want something in addition to your ramen bowl. We'd say hit Jia across the hall for better (and handmade) dumplings." - Juli Horsford
