"If you were around in the 19th century, you might have known it as the Blue Pump Room, or maybe the Old Abbey. Open since 1829, this Woodhaven bar has gone by several names, and was at one time frequented by a young Mae West. With its tin ceiling and antique lamps, Neir’s Tavern is worth a sightseeing trip, especially if you’re into the movie Goodfellas, parts of which were filmed here. If you aren’t into touristy things, that’s fine. The place mostly feels like a quality, down-to-earth neighborhood hang that just happens to be implausibly old. Swing by, get a beer poured from the old-school tap system, and try the signature Goodfella Burger, which has nothing to do with the movie, but is delicious nonetheless. photo credit: Bryan Kim" - Bryan Kim
