Duffy’s Tavern - Review - West New Brighton - New York - The Infatuation
"At Duffy’s Tavern, an Irish pub on Staten Island, anything goes. A guy at the bar drinks a pint glass full of vodka on a Monday morning, and the kitchen sends out their burger on an English muffin with not one, not two, but three slices of American cheese. (There’s one on each side of the bun, with a third on the patty.) photo credit: Willa Moore We can't verify whether this is "Staten Island's Best Burger," as they claim on the green awning out front. But for $13.50, it’s totally satisfying. Especially when you're eating it in a pub that’s been around since 1985, under emerald lights at the bar up front, or on top of a green paper placemat at a table. The heaping tuna melt is a solid second choice. Food Rundown Chili Duffy’s likes their cheese. In the chili, a whole slice of American is laid over top and then layered with diced onion. The chili itself is meaty and impressively thick—there’s not a spoonful of broth in sight. Order it if a bean-heavy chili has always felt like a waste of stomach space. photo credit: Willa Moore Cheeseburger The juicy patty dwarfs its english muffin, which means you’ll never have a bite that’s all bun, no burger.
