"Absinthe is the hook behind this cocktail bar. It’s the focus of lots of the very good drinks on the menu. But Death In The Afternoon is still a good call for a date if you don’t really care what you’re drinking—you just want to sip it inside a room that feels dark and mysterious. The bar has a weathered look to it, with unfinished walls and a concrete floor, and it’s one vintage lamp away from being called a speakeasy. But it doesn’t feel too forced thanks to a friendly staff who are only taking the drinks—not themselves—too seriously. If you get hungry, they have Spanish dishes too, like patatas brava, grilled octopus, and a chorizo burger." - ryan pfeffer, cheryl rodewig
