"Doña is one of our favourite bars in London. It has all the red fringing and flair of a ‘70s Cher outfit with carmine walls, a velvet chaise longue, and an abundance of pink feathers on the horseshoe bar. But the fact that this underground Stoke Newington bar looks like the interior of our minds after watching a Sofia Coppola film is only part of the reason why we love this place. It’s a bar that happily swallows your evening whole—one expertly spicy mezcal margarita becomes 1am bottles of Modelo on the dance floor, soundtracked by something delightfully funky courtesy of the DJ. Upstairs, there’s a restaurant serving Central American dishes and it’s less red-walled play room and more mid-week catch-up over a plate of fried tortilla chips. We’re not huge fans of the food: the doñitas are overloaded with avocado and the mezcal chicken is a touch dry. So instead, go for dinner nearby then enter through the red sparkly curtain, and make your way straight down the stairs and into the arms of one of London’s best margaritas. photo credit: @pasco.photography photo credit: @pasco.photography" - Heidi Lauth Beasley
